Here is yet another episode in what has become a bit of a scrap between David Aaronovitch of The Times and everyone else who knows anything about surveillance (including the news reporters from his own paper). Did you notice the jobsworth private security guard claiming that it was somehow illegal to film along the banks of the River Thames by the former County Hall, now a hotel ? Even if, as he seemed to claim, the public footpath and right of way was somehow on private land, he was still utterly wrong.
