The Koma Theatre
The Koma Theatre, long the centre of Kabukicho but now closed and boarded up, is the focus of an unresolved behind-the-scenes struggle between developers and the Shinjuku authorities. The latter want to keep the site as a place for entertainment of some kind in keeping with the local plan, but the developers want to make as much case as possible and would prefer yet another luxury hotel and shopping complex. The future of Kabukicho hangs in the balance.
